As Head of Media Relations you will oversee major group corporate announcements, reactive comms for the Group and their brands, as well as designing and driving forward a UK media engagement programme.  This is an excellent opportunity to join the inhouse team of a high-profile and innovative brand. The role is suitable for a practitioner with retail/ tech/luxury sector experience and superb media handling skills. The role will be 80% proactive and 20% reactive. 

The Company

This well-known on-line retailer owns a range of high-profile brands. They operate globally and the global remit of this role will be covering Asia and the Middle East as they build out the brands.

The corporate communications team has recently restructured, and this person will manage the press office and a PR Manager and deal with lots of strategic announcements on group level. They will also look for opportunities for stories across the brands.

The Role 

Key challenges and opportunities in this Global Head of Media Relations role:

  • Have the strategic vision to look at the bigger picture and develop impactful, thoughtful and exciting media engagement programme to profile the group   
  • Having strong media abilities with business correspondents, retail pages, luxury writers, tech editors plus the luxury goods and retail trades would be useful
  • Oversees strategic announcements on group level and manages reactive communications across group businesses
  • Build compelling narratives and connect stories from across the businesses
  • Enjoy managing a press office and developing a PR Manager

The Person

Key attributes and experience for this Global Head of Campaigns role:

  • A strong pair of hands to handle the media well
  • Corporate communications experience in retail/ luxury fashion/ ecommerce sectors, confident with knowing their way around issues
  • It is likely that you will be an agency Director or an inhouse Head of Media Relations with some agency experience
  • Ideally you will have listed companies experience
  • Must have worked with big press office/clients
  • Team management experience
  • Extensive experience in designing and delivering corporate media engagement programmes
